The middle of Wichita Falls filled in through the sixties and seventies, and the shade trees on those streets went in with the houses. A lot of them are past fifty years old now.
Fifty is the age when a pecan starts shedding limbs in a high wind. It is also when a cedar elm nobody ever pruned has a canopy resting on a roof. Neither tree is dying. Both are past the point where you can leave them alone and hope.
